Hochschulen – Bauten für die berufliche und Erwachsenenbildung
Architektur und Raumgestaltung
Germany, Austria, Switzerland
The field of architecture for adult and vocational education ranges from new buildings for training courses that did not even exist a few decades ago to extensions of universities that have been growing since early modern times. In accordance with the progressive differentiation of society, research and professional profiles, these buildings need to change.
As the role of higher education in our society continues to grow, more space is required. In addition, extensive renovations and energy upgrades are needed. At the same time, the buildings must be functional and provide adequate space for learning and teaching. Architects are faced with the challenge of accommodating different subjects with different requirements in one building.
“Hochschulen – Bauten für die berufliche und Erwachsenenbildung” shows 44 projects, including houses for classrooms and seminar rooms, architecture with lecture halls, and many other specific buildings for teaching. The buildings are often prestigious architectural objects for the educational institutions and cities. They are all excellent examples of a new generation of educational buildings.
